What Was I thinking?

On the Tuesday following the horrific tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown Connecticut, the National Rifle Association issued the following statement:

The National Rifle Association of America is made up of four million moms and dads, sons and daughters – and we were shocked, saddened and heartbroken by the news of the horrific and senseless murders in Newtown.  Out of respect for the families, and as a matter of common decency, we have given time for mourning, prayer and a full investigation of the facts before commenting.  The NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.  The NRA is planning to hold a major news conference in the Washington, DC area on Friday, December 21.

Silly me.  I thought that in the aftermath of the second deadliest school shooting in U.S. history, the moms and dads, sons and daughters who make up the NRA were going to initiate some constructive dialog about, at the very least, re-instituting the assualt weapons ban.  What was I thinking?

Mitt Romney Didn't Just Lose, He's a Loser!

In a call to big donors, explaining why he lost the election, Mitt Romney, instead of calling for a healing or re-unification of the country, decided to turn up the hate speak.

What the President's campaign did was focus on certian members of his base coalition, give them extraordianary financial gifts from the government, and then work very agressively to turn them out to vote

Well as one of those certain members of the President's base coalition, I feel compelled to ask, what gifts?

Congratulations, President Obama. You ran an amazing campaign refusing to change your style to suit either the hate merchants on the far right or the whiners on the far left.

The Undecided

The pollsters and the talking heads, have long ago decided that the only voters they should pay attention to, are those that declare themselves to be undecided.  It has always been a mystery to me, how, in this political climate, when the candidates are virtually polar opposites, one can in this late stage of the game be undecided about which candidate to vote for, but recently, I've had an epiphany.
